about me

Most people want to know a little about someone before they bare their soul. I would, too. You may have spent some time researching therapists before you got here and know something about me already. Whether you do or not, I hope to help you learn a little more about me.

First and foremost, I'm a husband and father of three children. No, my relationships with my wife and kids are not perfect. I have to work on them daily and have experienced both the joys and frustrations.

my approach

I believe relationships are the single biggest factor that contribute to our happiness and distress. In fact, research has shown that they are the primary reason anyone seeks therapy.

Because relationships are so important, your relationship with me as your therapist is also key. You need to feel that I am genuinely interested in you and your concerns and that I know how to help you reach your goals. For me, that involves a balance of compassion, empathy, challenging, support, humor, and practical solutions. I consider myself a pretty laid back and normal guy with specialized training to help you with the challenges that have brought you here.

In addition to seeing my own clients, I served as the program director of the Marriage and Family Therapy program at the University of Houston - Clear Lake for 8 years. I love training students to become therapists and find that it keeps my own skills sharp as I help my clients. I believe that staying active in providing therapy, conducting research, and teaching is the best way for me to ensure that I am giving you with the best care possible. In my spare time, I love to be outdoors, play guitar, cook, and travel with my family.

Below you can find where I earned my degrees and what credentials I hold. If you think I would be a good fit for you, contact me directly, or click the button below to request a session.
